MUST learn Arabic calligraphy; it’s so beautiful!
The ninety-first surah in the Holy Quran, Ash-Shams, meaning ‘the sun’; is written exactly once in the Islamic Calligraphy Diwani Jali script to create an abstract stylized sun.

VERY exciting things in the works! Intermediate classes at Brooklyn Brainery, Free Study Hall at Brooklyn Launchpad, and a brand-spanking-new newsletter. Hello 2012!
I love doing poems…. “If”by Ruyard Kipling. Tea-stained and crinkled.
Played around with my new Modern Gothic font today on some inner envelopes. Lovely, no?
I love how hieroglyphic this font is. Look at the M’s! I also adore the roundness of the characters.
I still need a little practice with it, but something tells me it will be a popular choice for the upcoming fall/ holiday season. :)
Another set of gorgeous table cards completed. Calligraphy by me; stationary by Wedding Paper Divas.
It’s also about time I gave a shout out to the best india ink ever. Sennelier India Ink.
I use it for everything. It’s the blackest black, it dries quickly, and it’s beautifully thick. Water can’t move it, and it’s lightfast. Get it at Blick!

OH MY GOD INVISIBLE INK IS REAL. HORRAY
“Clandestine writing! This J. Herbin ink is straight out of a spy movie. It looks pink in the bottle, but writes clear. Turns blue when held under a light or other heat source and disappears as the paper cools. This fun ink is perfect for bring life to your writing and an excellent way to get kids and teenagers interested in the art of calligraphy. The ink comes in a 30 ml bottle for pages upon pages of secret writing. This ink is not suited for fountain pens. Use with your J. Herbin glass dip pen, quill or calligraphy nib.”
Holy smokes
Just when you think you have enough ink….. (via J. Herbin)
